UEFA Champions League Trophy on Tour

The trophy of Europe’s most prestigious club competition is currently in South Africa as it tours around the African Continent – and attracting more fans than some rock stars.

Football is an immensely popular sport in South Africa and this was never as clear as over the Easter Weekend when fans flocked to the V&A Waterfront to catch a small glimpse of the trophy. The tour has already taken it all over Africa with stops in countries like Egypt, Algeria and Nigeria.

If you weren’t able to get to Cape Town to view the trophy, don’t worry, you still have a chance this weekend when it will be displayed at Montecasino in Johannesburg – the last stop on the tour before the trophy is transported back to Europe in preparation for next month’s final in Rome.

Why end the tour here? Well it only makes sense of course, the World Cup will be held here next year after all and it only made sense to the tour promoters that the coveted UEFA trophy stop here for a while.

Remember, this weekend, check it out!
