Akon not so lonely anymore
Akon is no stranger to South Africa, he has been here before after all. On his latest trip though, besides launching his clothing label here, he managed to make a new friend to keep him from being Mr. Lonely.
Akon, who was born in Senegal, made it known while he was here that he would love to meet South Africa's main man, Jacob Zuma. Well yesterday he got his chance after Zuma's spokesman, Zizi Kodwa, arranged for a brief tête-à-tête. It wasn't just any meeting either. Akon was lucky enough to meet Zuma at his private residence (and if you really need to know, in a BMW X5 with an entourage of six. Also, he was wearing a shiny grey suit and tie, white shirt and black shoes. I'm not sure why this is important.).
Akon was clearly delighted to get the chance to meet Zuma and afterward said that "entertainment and politics go hand in hand. They can both reach out and influence a lot of people." Wise words. And, lucky for us South Africans, our President can do both! He can sing, he can dance and we'll see over the next 5 years if he can juggle the affairs of state. It'll be a whole new concept, an entertaining politician.
