R you serious?

R Kelly seems to have more than just a bit to hide. A recent visit to South Africa prompted him to try and censor the media at his official press conference last week. Apparently, or shall I say, according to his management, he did apologise for trying to pull a R Mugabe on us.

Journalists were supposed to sign contracts preventing them from publishing anything that hadn't been approved by him. He even threw in the threat of an R800 000 defamation lawsuit if they defaulted.

The SA National Editors Forum would have none of it. Even though R Kelly's management claimed it was to protect the star from having incorrect and sensational stories printed about him. Its tough at the top Mr Superstar.

I didn't want to have be the one to say this but just who does he think he is? Sure he was a big star in the 90's but I haven't heard much from him on the radio waves lately. More than that, I happened to hear the press conference that he was speaking at where he conjured up sympathy from the crowd claiming to have a phobia about flying. Lucky for us, he sucked it up and got on a plane to come and see us. He extended himself.

Ah, you have to love celebrity don't you? He graced us with his presence despite his fear of flying. So that debunks two of his biggest claims, one is that he believes he can fly and the other, that he is in fact perhaps not the benevolent superstar coming to save Africa with a little song here and there. I mean seriously, if it was about us, we wouldn't have to feel guilty about making him get on a plane to come visit.

So, just to be sure that he was in fact, NOT misquoted, I decided to post the karaoke version of his smash hit..."I Believe I Can Fly." It might have some meaning for you but its an affirmation for Mr Kelly. Welcome to Africa.
