It's My Party...
You have to love that we still think that computers aren't the root of much of our evil. If you have a computer, and more so, the Internet, the world truly does become a little oyster of your own making.
Computer users have their own language, their own etiquette, pretty much an entire culture really. So it goes without saying that every now and then we've got to celebrate the digital age and all that comes along with it.
That's exactly what's happening in Madrid. Its called a Campus Party and its on of the world's biggest entertainment events. The event lasts a week and kicked off this past Monday. Some 6 000 Internet enthusiasts are expected to party like its 1995 in a 12 000m tent at the futuristic "City of Arts and Sciences."
The idea of the event, like any self respecting party is for like minded people from all over the world to share ideas and experiences. all kinds of party favours will be going around like activities related to computers, communications and new technology.
Where is this fabulous party did you say? Valencia. Party packs? Super-fast Internet access, workshops and lectures on astronomy (say what?), customising your PC and computer hacking. Didn't get the invitation? Well, the good news is that the event is partly open to the public for the first time this year. So now all the "computer enthusiasts" who use the net for Internet dating and soft porn can now only mildly crash the party. There's probably other criteria like decoding Internet acronyms like LMFAO, or AFCPS. And if you pass you might even get a chance to play one of the video game competitions.
Last year about 8000 people took part and made the event a roaring success. So for those of you not taking part, dust off your Internet acronym dictionary and get studying for next year. for those of you who are, take some pictures on your phone and upload them to www.hummba.com...its the future.
