Thrill seekers are getting a new entertainment venue in Johannesburg
Yesterday, a Chinese company and three other partners signed an agreement to construct a Disneyland-style theme park in Johannesburg.
The company, Huaqiang Holdings Limited will cooperate with China Development Bank, the China-Africa Development Fund, and the industrial Development Corporation of South Africa to build a 770,000 square meter theme park at a cost of approximately 250 million U.S. dollars. That is quite a chunk of change!
Thankfully, we won't have to wait too long to see what they have to offer as construction is set to start later this year and will take about two or three years to complete. That may seem like a long time but when you consider the size and what they have planned for the park, it's not that long at all! So what do they have planned? Well, according to Liang Guangwei, chairman of the board of Huaqiang Holdings Limited, the park will have three zones: Chinese Culture, African Culture and world culture. That all sounds pretty exciting but until I see what some rides will look like Liang, I'm going to be shivering with anticipation!
We're in good hands though. This isn't the first park the company will have built or had a hand in building. It has built or is in the process of constructing amusement parks in five Chinese cities and is also constructing one in Iran.
Well, I can't wait to hear more about this project as it comes to head and I definitely can't wait to see what kind of thrills the park will have!
