Don't give that bacon up just yet
Good news for all South Africans and anyone planning to travel here. There have been no confirmed cases of swine flu reported in the country according to the Department of Health.
The department went on to say that despite this they were going to remain vigilant and would be holding a media workshop on Thursday at Midrand Conference Centre to share their preparation plans.
Swine flu has been the topic of choice for people the world over for the past two weeks, ever since the 'outbreak' started in Mexico. Calling it the topic of choice might be understating it just a tad, in fact, there's been some full scale panic. Things are calming down however as more is learnt about the disease and what we can do to fight it. Until this passes though, remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry and take some basic precautions against contracting infections such as swine flu.
Basic precautions like?
Always wash your hands after using the lavatory or before eating
Avoid touching your face with your hands, particularly your mouth, nose or eyes.
Avoid close contact with sick people.
Also it's important to note that you can't catch swine flu from eating pork so don't give up bacon just yet.
